The wines of Red Car added to Woodberry Wine’s portfolio
Sonoma Vineyards on the edge of the Pacific
Troy, Mich. – Wine distributor Woodberry Wine announces the addition of Red Car to their portfolio, and introduces to the Michigan market an exceptional line of single vineyard, cool coast Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnays that are high scoring, respected, and in many cases highly allocated. The Red Car Rosé of Pinot Noir is always highly sought after, and was named among Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 wines of the year in 2015. The estate vineyard is located in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA just above Fort Ross, three miles inland from the Pacific. Many other famous wineries have vineyards within the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA or purchase grapes from there, including Pahlmeyer, Williams-Selyem, Siduri, Marcassin, and Peter Michael.
Red Car Winery was co-founded by winemaker Carroll Kemp where they produced their first vintage in 2000 with purchased fruit. Since then, the Red Car team has worked tirelessly to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of their purchased Fort Ross-Seaview, Freestone and Occidental vineyards, and to produce world class wines that uniquely represent the West Sonoma Coast profile. Carroll Kemp puts it this way, “If Carneros Pinot Noir is about strawberry; and Russian River is about cherry, the West Sonoma Coast is about earth and wild raspberries.” The winery name is a tribute to trolley cars that serviced Los Angeles through the first half of the 20th century and pays homage to the founder’s hometown, the City of Angels.
