MelMar Wines is located in the heart of Napa Valley. The Oakville District has given way to some of the most accomplished and acknowledged Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the world.
The climate in Oakville is unique to other Napa Valley AVAs due to its midvalley positioning; it is southern enough to attract morning fog from the San Pablo Bay, yet far north enough to bask in the warm afternoon sunlight. The Vineyard site is located on Oakville Cross Road, with Plumpjack to its right and Groth Reserve blocks to its left. The Vineyard was planted in 2007 and is cropped to about 3 tons per acre, which translates to low-yielding/high concentration berries.
The founders of MelMar Wines believe that wine tasting should be fun. An exploration for the senses. It all started when our Co-Founder, Mark Powers, set out in 2012 to produce a world-class premium Cabernet. His passion for wine, people and community inspired him to create MelMar Wines. The 2014 Signature Edition Cabernet was their first release.
