Burritt’s is hosting a special tasting this Thursday, June 23rd, from 5:30 to 7:00pm! They will be joined by Barry from Essential Wines. He will be presenting a vertical tasting of Laurel Glen Vineyard’s Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition to this unique tasting opportunity we will be joined via live chat around 5:30pm by the winemaker, Randall Watkins. Please join us for this unique tasting and virtual tour!
Laurel Glen is one of the Icon estates in Sonoma, their Cabernet Sauvignon vines are so old and unique that the university Of California at Davis (the premier wine school in the country) has no clone/D.N.A. matches for their Cab vines! You will get to taste a very rare and exclusive type of Cabernet Sauvignon!
Due to the nature of the event, please arrive by 5:30pm to fully enjoy the winemaker’s presentation and tour. Space is limited to 30 guests, tickets are $15/person plus tax, please reply to this email or call the store 231-946-3300 ext 15 to RSVP.
Wines being tasted:
2005 Laurel Glen Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
A dream harvest, 2005 was a rare combination of high quality and high quantity, producing grapes with great maturity and full flavors. With inky Ruby color, an expressive bouquet that offers intense aromas of kirsch, raspberry, black currant, and fresh floral accents, this wine has an energetic depth that will reward cellaring. (We will not be tasting this vintge due to it’s extreme rarity! What we have in the verticals is all that is left!) Due to limited nature we can not split verticals
2007 Laurel Glen Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
2007 was a smaller than average harvest that started later than most. Vineyard yields were about 20% lower than either 2006 or 2008. This vintage is full of ripe berry flavors, black currant and ripe pomegranate, a soft texture, completed by a long, smokey, stone finish. Due to limited Nature we can not split verticals
2011 Laurel Glen Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
$68.09 a btl/53.19 btl by the case
The beginning of LGV.’s journey into sustainable and organic farming, 2011 was a very cool and long growing season. The only extended period of warmth were the months of September and October, which gave the grapes a much-needed boost in ripening. This resulted in a wine with a more subtle berry note, soft herbed aromas, and smooth, velvet rich tannins.
2012 Laurel Glen Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
$69.00 a btl/$60.50 a btl by the case
The 2012 vintage provided plenty of sunshine, hang time and opportunity to develop intense and complex flavors in the vineyard and wines. Flavors like intense red berry liqueur, roasted chestnuts, and marzipan. Tightly knit aromas and flavors lend immediate pleasure, while dark raspberry seamlessly pulls it all together from beginning to end. Due to limited Nature We can not split verticals
2013 Laurel Glen Counterpoint Cabernet Sauvignon
$41.39 a btl/$36.89 by the case
85% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Merlot
The 2013 vintage of Counterpoint benefits from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Pickberry Vineyard, now farmed by Ned Hill, and from Cabernet Sauvignon from the Murray Vineyard, farmed organically by Joe Votek. The 2013 growing season began early, with a warm and dry spring, and the weather stayed absolutely beautiful all the way through an early harvest. Bursting with aromas of raspberry compote, plum, blond tobacco and crème brûlée, the finish is fresh, bright, round, and delicious.
