More about this Producer
Essay White – unirrigated, old, bush-vine chenin blanc was used as the anchor of this wine and gives it its intense fruity-ness and refreshing acidity. The viognier adds some floral and spice notes and a soft, appealing richness to the palate.
Essay Red – Old-vine Shiraz and cinsaut are the base of this wine. We have intentionally made a softer, fruitier style to lend the wine extra drinkability and to match a wider range of food. Juicy red-berry fruit flavors are backed by a soft palate and accessible tannins. A portion of viognier was co-fermented with the shiraz to contribute softness to the palate and some floral notes to the aroma.
As the name conveys, the Essay wines are unconventional blends of varieties that we feel do best in the unirrigated vineyards of the Swartland region.
