Welcome back to Leaves from the Vine. In this edition, I’d first like to apologize to all my loyal readers for being absent from the keyboard for a couple months. I was very busy making magic happen at Woodberry Wine for the fourth quarter of 2014, our most successful quarter to date.
Here at Woodberry Wine, we’ve also been expanding our ranks to best service our customers, recruiting new team members in sales, our office, and for deliveries. We’re always innovating to hone our practices and serve our customers to the best of our ability. I’m always open to suggestions to how we can make further improvement. I’m happy to say that our new recruits are working out very well, and make excellent additions to our team. At Woodberry Wine, we’re always looking for great people that can help us make our company the best it can be. I would encourage anyone interested in joining our team to contact us!
Toward the end of last year, Woodberry Wine put out an “About Us” video to publicize some aspects about our culture. To paraphrase, service is something of supreme value at Woodberry Wine and is intrinsically ingrained into our company culture. There is an incredible amount of passion within our team. We are passionate about wine, about building relationships, and being the best we can be. Our passions are tempered with respect for each other, respect for our suppliers and the artistry of the winemakers and their products. Most importantly, we value respect for the partnerships we create with our customers.
In January, we had our 2015 company kickoff meeting and company party where the mood was absolutely electric. Since then, we’ve been riding this wave of momentum and have already had a strong start to the New Year. We have a lot of exciting things planned in 2015, and I would encourage all of our customers and friends to stay tuned as these initiatives unfold.
As detailed in our website we have several trade shows already scheduled for the Spring. Please join us at Cork on Saginaw in Flint on March 3rd, Mangiamo in Grand Rapids on March 9th, and Birmingham Country Club for our Metro Detroit Spring Rosé Tasting on March 11th.
We are entering one of our favorite times of year at Woodberry Wine because of the arrival of fresh new rosé wines from around the world. These crisp, fresh, and juicy wines pair perfectly with the coming seasons, and help us forget the awful weather that will soon be behind us. We are expecting the arrival of these great wines in the coming month, so look out for your old favorites, and some exciting new offerings as well.
I am also extremely excited about the release of our very first private-label wine, “Nain Rouge Red”. The Nain Rouge, or Red Dwarf, is a character of Detroit folklore, inspired by the early French settlers, and Native American inhabitants. This legend was the inspiration for our release of the Nain Rouge Red, a Grenache-Syrah blend available this spring from Woodberry Wine!
“In the back alleys of Detroit, the legend of the Red Dwarf still mystifies the city’s residents today. Some believe the dwarf to be lucky and a protector of the city while others believe his sighting foretells darkness and doom. This supernatural French blend is as authentic as Detroit and its legendary Red Dwarf.”
This concludes this edition of Leaves from the Vine with Nick Capaldi. Please stay tuned to Woodberry Wine, as we continue to strive to be your favorite wine distributor in Michigan. Stay warm, my friends, and think spring!
