About the family
When you hear the melodious voice of Magali ringing through the offices of Saint-André-de-Figuière in the morning then you can bet it’s going to be a great day! Magali, who is the mother of two children, is always happy and determined and capable of carrying out several tasks at the same time.
It has to be said that she is not afraid of working hard as she was sales manager at Disneyland Paris for 3 years (six months of which in Orlando). She spent nearly 15 years working as a sales rep for hotel chains such as Accor and Best Western. Since 2004, she has decided to work for the family business like her sister Delphine.
Magali is thrilled with the new lifestyle that her and two children Jules and Maé now have. It has enabled her to rediscover nature and have lots of friends round for whom she prepares wonderful meals ‘Gaby style’. She also has a keen interest in ballet, music and travelling. Her safeguard: her family.
La Mounette, as Gaby is known on the Domain, used to be an infant teacher in the Chablis region where she met her husband Alain.
Gaby’s qualities are those of being gentle, smiling, organised and generous. Her main aim in life is to give pleasure to those around her. Her secret weapon is her talent for cooking, an art that has been handed down by her parents who lived in the countryside just inland from Nice. Great chefs, wine merchants, wine waiters and foreign importers have all been invited to her house, which is always open, to taste her dishes in company of the family.
Amongst the dishes that are not likely to be forgotten by her guests are miniature stuffed vegetables, artichokes, courgette flowers in batter, warm fish with an aïoli sauce and peaches in rosé from the Old Vines. Her latest creation is sautéed veal and carrots which is certainly worthy of the rosé Magali! A wine that is used in the dish. If you would like to obtain one of Gaby’s recipes then do not hesitate in asking, as “La Mounette” is willing to share them!
